General photo gallery - Part 1 - The Loire Valley - France
"Here is the most enchanting and delightful province of the kingdom. They have named it the ' Garden of France' because of the excellence of its air, the affability of its inhabitants and the ease of its life, all of which are found in abundance". This is how a 17th century geographer describes the Loire Valley.
Indeed, the banks of the Loire are very fertile and make a natural garden, which the human hand has always improved and embellished. The forests, plaines and meadows are echoed here by the great landscaped parks, formal as well as English-style gardens, herb gardens, water gardens, flower gardens belonging to the country houses and palaces.
